SICK BREAK

I've been pretty sick for the past week and boggled down with work hence the lack of updates on the blog. Thankfully i'm much better now and work, i can only say everyday is a new learning experience.
I hope i'm living up to expectations here.

Anyway, some exciting news for those who like our ABC dating installment, we're doing our "I" date this upcoming weekend so expect an update on that by next week. Since Tim and i have been really busy individually, plus he has to work on Saturdays now, we've haven't had the luxury of time to plan such elaborate dates anymore but it's okay, we've put it off for almost 4 months now so i think it's really time to get back to some fun, quality time together.
Plus, i really enjoy our themed dates. Its a nice, refreshing touch from the usual dating experience.

I'm also on a 3-month lifestyle change after much procrastinating so i'm mega eggcited for that as well.
And much more lovejects that willl be happening once we squeeze out the time (its a word for love projects, i just made that up) for Tim and i.

Thanks for still reading guys. I really appreciate it.

Till then,
Mel

A VDAY SPECIAL

Today is Valentine's day.

A day where couples are supposed to express their love and keep the romance alive.
It is also a day where anything that remotely resembles hearts, flowers or teddy bears are doubled/tripled its' price. And restaurants charge exorbitant charges for an extra dessert they serve or for candles at your table for a romantic ambience in their "Valentine's Day Special" set menu.

Erm. okay.

Getting on with the real intent of this post.

Since i'm a selective hipster on what i like to deviate away from the crowd, (Like everyone loved Inception and Avatar and i'm like "meh. everyone's watching it, i'm not going to then." but then Transformers came out and everyone else was watching it and i wanted to too!) i decided that for 2014's Valentine's Day, instead of celebrating our reasons for love, we should list the things that we actually hated about each other.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day.

Because nobody's perfect.

And loving someone means you love them for who they are, flaws included.

As always, i like to thank Tim for being such a supportive and sporting boyfriend for doing this even if he did grumble about it for a few days. When it came down to the actual execution, he was quite excited.

So he gets to go first.
3 THINGS I HATE ABOUT MEL

1. She cannot keep secrets

TIM: She can't keep the secrets that she knows. Things that i tell her weren't supposed to be told out loud but she'll use them as conversation starters.

2. She's so clumsy

TIM: She'll hurt herself more than 3 times a day.

3. She's short-tempered

TIM: It's quite direct, isn't it?

My turn now!

3 THINGS I HATE ABOUT TIM

1. He always oversleeps

MEL: He's tired all the time so he sleeps a lot. And it's almost impossible to wake him up when he sleeps so he's often late to plans. Sometimes, i get more annoyed when i know he purposely stayed up late to do random things even when he knows that he's meeting me the next day.

2. He's obsessed with his phone games.

MEL: Any opportunity he gets, he sneaks in a game or two or three or four. And when his friends get a better score than him, he becomes very determined to beat their score and will keep on playing. Even when he's out on a date with me!

3. He's too sensitive

MEL: He takes my jokes too seriously, even when i say it while giggling.

And we're done!
As a couple, we've learnt to accommodate and accept each other as the person that we are. While we were doing this project, it was fun to trash out all the little things that annoyed each other and it was such a light-hearted process that we eventually ended up laughing and joking around.
And yes, we still love each other despite it all.
Lucky Me.

ALWAYS CREATIVE

All of us met during a work event with the company Creative almost 4 years back and to date, these people are one of the closest friends i have in my life. It was also this very same group that fueled my relationship with Tim, resulting in me being in the happy place that i am in today.

I cannot stress how important these group of friends are in my life and i am happy for every single one of them for the amazing individual that they are and being contented with their own lives. We may not meet very often, but when we do, it's like we were never apart all along.

With this group,
i got punched in the face,
got ridiculed for my lack of good driving skills
got fat from late night suppers
got birthday cards made by Xenia
and lots of laughter from not very funny jokes.

Cheers to 2014 and to new memories together.

FIGHTER PLANES AND BMWS

Perfectly parked BMWs in rows, ready for picking.

Highlight of the air show was the aerial display put up by the Black Knights which showed a lot of hard work, precision and skills honed from years of practice.

Minion in a hat.
Seriously, too cute!

RSAF Family Day 2014 with my dad, younger brother and uncle.

I've been going to such shows and family days with my dad since i was a young girl and i always loved them.
Seeing fighter planes from Singapore and other countries up close and watching the stunning aerial display by the Singapore Black Knights definitely made up for waking up early to go to the show.
Also free candy floss, popcorn, ice-kachang, muah chee and tutu kueh were awesome too!

I always wonder what would have happened if i really had the courage and determination to serve in the military. And if i had chosen a different route than where i am now, what would it be like.
What would i have become as a person?
So yes, i'm proud of the people who chose to serve our nation.
People like my father who spend a good 30 years dedicating his life to the Singapore Armed Forces.

Thanks dad.
